# Baking NavMesh

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** AI will not be able to navigate scenes if there's no baked NavMesh.
{% endhint %}

Emerald AI uses NavMesh to allow AI to navgiate scenes. This means your scenes must be baked with Unity's NavMesh in order to properly move around them. You can see the Nagivation tab through Window>AI.

For a basic and quick tutorial on how this works, you can see: [Unity's Tutorial on NavMesh Baking](https://docs.unity3d.com/2017.1/Documentation/Manual/nav-BuildingNavMesh.html).

### New NavMesh Components

If the Navigation tab is not visible through Window>AI, you will need to import the AI Navigation package through the Unity Package Manager. The new NavMesh system baking proecess is a little different. For a in-depth tutorial on how this works, you can see the below YouTube tutorial.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://black-horizon-studios.gitbook.io/emerald-ai-wiki/getting-started/baking-navmesh.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
