To create walk footstep sounds, . Select your AI's walk animations using the Current Animation pulldown. Set the Event Type to Play Walk Sound. Find the frame you would like the walk footstep to happen using the timeline slider. When you are ready, press the Add Event button to create the Animation Event. This will automatically fill in the info needed for the walk footstep sound event. If you want additional footstep sounds for animations like turning, dodging, and strafing, you will need to go through your AI's animations and repeat these steps for those animations.
When you are done with applying the events to all the animations you want walk footsteps sound on, press the Apply Changes button.
